On Wednesday, February 5th, the LSU Student Real Estate Association welcomed David Trusty, the Director of Commercial Real Estate at Gully, Phelps, & McKey, to the Business Education Complex. Mr. Trusty gave a detailed presentation to the SREA about the upcoming River District development. Mr. Trusty discussed his personal role in the project and shared how his past experiences in marketing led to his success in commercial real estate. SREA President Hayes Berthelot said, “We were very pleased to have Mr. Trusty speak to our members and answer all of our questions regarding this exciting new development. The River District will have a huge impact on the face of Baton Rouge and LSU alike. Mr. Trusty is a key player in the development, and his insight provided SREA members with a new perspective on the promising future of commerical real estate in Baton Rouge.

On Monday, January 27th, the Student Real Estate Association attended the Dr. Leo S. Butler Community Center for the unveiling of Baton Rouge’s River District development. The River District will be a 40+ acre mixed-use development on Nicholson Drive between downtown and LSU. SREA members were able to network with the River District’s project developer, Dalis Waguespack, the project attorney, Charles Landry, and the architect, Steven Oubre. SREA Vice-President Braden Eddy said “The River District unveiling was a tremendous opportunity for SREA members to network with key players of the development and gather insight on what it takes for a project of this magnitude to come to fruition.”
